Pulmonary Rehabilitation can be lifesaving
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is an outpatient service. This program is designed to meet the needs of patients who have chronic respiratory problems. Each customized program is based on a specific lung problem or disease. Active involvement on behalf of the patient and family is vital to the success of the program.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients and non-COPD patients with a diagnosis such as pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, post-COVID-19 virus or who are post lung transplant, are eligible for pulmonary rehabilitation after a provider referral is received. Patients may be excluded from participation if certain conditions exist, which may create complications or create a risk to the patient's health.
Excellent outcomes for greater lung function
Participating in a Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program can be a lifesaving and life-changing experience. Studies show people who participate in a structured program have greater outcomes. Our program is designed to meet your needs and help you return to the highest level of functionality and independence possible while improving your overall quality of life – physically, emotionally and socially.
Team approach to excellence
Our multidisciplinary team will create a program designed to assist patients in techniques for managing their breathing limitations. We teach patients how to safely exercise, advise on how to incorporate home exercise and review breathing techniques to increase the activities of daily living. Nutritional counseling is available to help manage challenges patients may have in eating healthy meals and maintaining proper weight and hydration. We assist patients in understanding their medications, as well as, how to take them properly (i.e. proper use of inhalers). By incorporating healthy lifestyle habits such as smoking cessation, patients can reduce further respiratory exacerbations, prevent infection and manage secretions.
