Professional and medical interests

Interested in all aspects of spine surgery (cervical, thoracic, and lumbar) with a special interest in spine trauma, spinal cord injuries, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, disc herniations, scoliosis, tumors, and revision surgery.

How did you fall in love with your field?

After my first exposure to spine surgery as a medical student I was enthralled by the breadth of pathology and the wide range in patient population. I enjoy the challenge of going through a patient's history, examination, and imaging findings to determine the best treatment plan, whether that is operative or nonoperative management. In the end, it is a patient population that I enjoy building relationships with while working towards a goal of improving their quality of life.\

Three things people may not know about you:

• Until recently I believed it was Buzz Lightgear. My 3 year old son taught me it is actually Buzz Lightyear - he's never been more embarrassed of me.
• Enjoy playing and writing music
• I met my wife while attending UNK. We have two children, a 5 year-old daughter who just started kindergarten and the above mentioned 3 year-old Toy Story fan.
